Duke Dominates in Dean Dome

The Tobacco Road Rivalry never disappoints and for Duke fans, Saturday was no exception. Duke cruised to an easy win over their most hated rival in Coach K's final trip to Chapel Hill. The Blue Devils never trailed in the game getting up to a 30 point lead. Duke started off fast getting up to a 31-8 lead in the first. Bacot picked up two early fouls and Duke never looked back.

There was no need for late game heroics like Rivers in 2012 or Moore in 2020. It was never needed. AJ Griffin had a break out night hitting a career high 27 points. Tar Heel fans that at the beginning of the game were shouting F--- Coach K were fighting for the exits with 5 minutes to go in the contest. The once ear splitting Dean Dome was now filled with sad Tar Heel fans and raucous screams from the Duke fans who made the trip. It was well worth the 8 mile drive.

UNC's supposed answer for Duke was Bacot, who apparently forgot the question. The only match up problem Duke had was Brady Manek, who had the game of his life scoring 21. Don’t expect a similar performance in Durham later this season.

Coach K grabbed his 17th win in Chapel Hill and managed to stay atop the ACC. Duke shot 58% and kept the fans in the right shade of blue happy all night. Banchero and Griffin were match up nightmares for UNC which you can expect to continue to see as ACC play continues. Duke plays Monday against Virginia at home in one of their seldom down years so staying atop the standings is likely. UNC travels to Clemson next and could easily suffer from the Duke hangover and drop one if Bacot has another average showing. Until March 5th and we meet again, as always it’s GTHC!
