College Football Catch Up

I was on vacation so no one got to hear my opinions on the last three weeks of college football and what it means for the rest of the season. Lets start with week 2. Alabama beat Mercer 48-14. The most surprising thing about this blow out was the fact that Mercer scored at all. Saban was not happy that the bears got into the end zone and I am sure he had some choice words in practice for his defense. Georgia beat UAB 56 to 7 and their defense had still yet to give up a TD at that point. Oregon beat Ohio State in a upset and effectively blew the CFB playoffs open. Texas A&M got a scare from Colorado and only won by 3. Notre Dame got another scare from Toledo and won 32-29. Iowa beat Iowa State by 10 in this in state match up. Stanford beat USC by 2 scores. BYU surprised most and beat Utah. Miami barely beat App State and only survived by 2. The biggest upset of the day came from Texas. They got curb stomped by Arkansas losing 40-21 in what was a truly painful offensive showing. But Arkansas added another impressive win to their resume. Everyone else in the top 25 did what they were supposed to and won by impressive amounts.

In week 3, a lot of good games were played. The best one was the SEC match up between Alabama and Florida. Everyone including myself thought Bama would go ahead and kill Florida's dreams swiftly but the Gators put up a fight. In the beginning, it looked like they might just. Then, Florida started to fight back. After scoring two touchdowns in the third, it got pretty dicey for the tide, but Alabama managed to survive the upset bid and won 31-29. Georgia won soundly against South Carolina 40-13. Oklahoma barely survived a Nebraska upset winning 23-16. Rattler again making his own case for why he should NOT be in Heisman consideration. Oregon, Iowa, and Texas A&M won big. Clemson barely survived Georgia Tech winning 14-8. Cincinnati and Ohio State won by 2 and 3 touchdowns respectively. Penn State won against Auburn by 8 at home. Fresno State beat UCLA by a field goal. West Virginia beat Virginia Tech by 6. BYU won again against a ranked team beating Arizona State 27-17. Arkansas continued to win impressively beating my alma mater Georgia Southern 45-10. Michigan State beat Miami 38-17. Lots of upsets in week 3 making way for a big week 4 and showing us just how wide open the college football playoffs can be.

Week 4 had Alabama winning impressively again 63-14 versus Southern Miss. Georgia shut out Vanderbilt beating them senselessly 62-0. Arkansas owns the state of Texas after beating Texas A&M 20-10. This will set up for a great week 5 match up of undefeated Georgia versus undefeated Arkansas. Oregon won impressively against Arizona. Oklahoma won despite their best efforts to lose and got insanely lucky to beat West Virginia by a field goal. Penn State won big again against Villanova. NC State upset Clemson proving once again that a Trevor Lawrence less Clemson is also bound to be a playoff less Clemson. Florida beat Tennessee soundly proving what few thought possible, Arkansas actually managed to get back before Tennessee. Let's all laugh together. One of the biggest surprises was Notre Dame beating Wisconsin 41-13 after scoring 31 points in the fourth quarter. Baylor upset Iowa State by 2. BYU continued its win streak. Michigan and Michigan State both won close ones. After narrowly losing to Clemson, Georgia Tech walloped UNC by 23 which proves what we should have always know; the ACC is a basketball conference and UNC is bad- stop ranking them. Auburn pulled out some late game heroics to beat Georgia State by 10. Oklahoma State beat Kansas State.

Now that we are all caught up, who is ready for week 5?
