College Football Week 8 Preview

Coastal Carolina will kick off week 8 tonight against App State. App State is typically a very strong Sun Belt team but already has two losses on the season. The game is being played in Boone which is a big advantage for App State so it could be the closest game that Coastal plays all season but I don't see the Mountaineers pulling off the upset this year. At least I hope they don't (Georgia Southern alum remember)! Undefeated SMU faces a test against Tulane, who played Oklahoma close to start the season. It should be a close one.

Cincinnati faces a very bad Navy team to keep their playoff hopes alive another week. Oklahoma will play a 1-5 Kansas team as a 38 point favorite. If Rattler was still starting, I would take Kansas to cover but Caleb Williams is much more proficient and should hang at least 5 touchdowns on the Jayhawks. Michigan faces Northwestern to try and stay undefeated should do so pretty easily. But Michigan rarely does things the easy way so we will see.

Penn State is a 24 point favorite when they face a 2-5 Illinois team at home. They will win easily as long as their run defense can contain Chase Brown for Illinois. Unbeaten Wake Forest faces 4-2 Army as a 3 point favorite. Wake Forest could actually win the ACC. If that doesn't show you how sad the Atlantic Coast Conference is in football right now, nothing will. Purdue found itself in the top 25 after beating Iowa last week and will face Wisconsin on the road to try and stay relevant. Wisconsin can't score a lot but they are still 3 point favorites in this Big 10 match up.

Oklahoma State is attempting to go 7-0 facing Iowa State this weekend in an away game. The Cyclones are 4-2 and could easily win this game and cover as 7 point favorites. IF Ok State can continue to impress and win this big conference match up, maybe people will start to take them seriously. Doubtful but maybe. Oregon and UCLA are the next visit for College Game day and the Bruins are 2 point favorites at home against the 5-1 Ducks. Ducks have to win to keep a hold of the Pac 12.

Ole Miss is playing at home against LSU and is a 9 point favorite. That seems like a lot after seeing how explosive their offense was against the Gators but either way with these two, I might take the over. Let's see how many of their players are "injured" at home, shall we? I am sure Tennessee fans will keep count. Pittsburgh found their way into the top 25 and face Clemson as 3 point favorites. It should be a close game that Pitt wins but I don't ever count Dabo out.

Alabama faces Tennessee in Tuscaloosa as 25 point favorites. After the dumpster fire (emphasis on the dumpster) that was last weeks game against Ole Miss, Tennessee must come back swinging this week. If Tennessee were a different team, I would say that this is the year for them to do it. This is as down an Alabama team as their likely to see before Saban retires so this would be the chance to end Bama's streak of 14 games straight. But Tennessee isn't good enough. Smoke em if you got em cause the Tide rolls over the Vols in this one.

San Diego State has a close one against Air Force with AF as a 3.5 point favorite. Undefeated UTSA Faces a terrible La Tech team and should cover winning this one as the 7 point favorite. Ohio State is back in the top five and will face an Indiana team that gave Michigan State a scare last week. They shouldn't be that close again this week. Buckeyes are 21 point favorites and should cover. Notre Dame faces an average USC team and should cover the 7 point spread.

Texas A&M faces South Carolina and Luke Doty is out for the season for the Gamecocks. The Aggies should have won anyway but now they should roll over them. NC State is a 3 point favorite against a crappy Miami team and should cover easily despite playing in Miami. Let's see who surprises and disappoints this week.
