The week started off with an upset. App State always wins one surprising game a year against a better team every single season. This year the victim was a good Coastal Carolina team that ended in a game winning field goal for the Mountaineers. SMU beat Tulane 55-26 to stay unbeaten. Cincinnati kept their dreams alive beating Navy by a touchdown. Oklahoma looked horrible for 3 quarters against a one win Kansas team again showing that Caleb Williams can solve some of their problems but not all of them. The Sooners managed to get the win but if you watched the game you know just how unimpressive it really was. They are the most unimpressive undefeated team in college football in my opinion.
Alabama was another team that did not look as good as people thought they should. The score did not tell the full story because Alabama eventually got it together scoring four touchdowns in the fourth to end up covering and beating the Vols by 28. The gave Vols fans hope for three quarters but Bama ended up with the W and continuing their streak against Tennessee. Ohio State got a huge win against Indiana 54-7. Michigan also got a win to stay undefeated beating Northwestern 33-7. The longest game of the weekend was Penn State versus Illinois that ended in a stunner. A lack of impressive play calling led to 9 overtimes that ultimately had Illinois beating Penn State 20-18.
Iowa State beat the formerly undefeated Oklahoma State by 3 adding itself to the Big 12 race. Oregon UCLA was also a close game that resulted in a Ducks win to keep them atop the Pac 12. Ole Miss beat LSU at home to keep the Tigers startingly average at 4-4. Ole Miss stays in the hunt for the West. Notre Dame beat USC 31-16 with some pretty impressive offensive line protection. The safest bet of the week would have been if you had the over for Wake Forest versus Army. Wake Forest stayed perfect scoring 70 points by themselves while Army scored 56 with some crazy offense.
Texas A&M won big against South Carolina beating them by 30. NC State lost a close one to Miami 31-30. San Diego State stayed undefeated beating Air Force by 7. Pittsburgh continued to win against Clemson beating the Tigers 27-17. University of Texas San Antonio won big against LA Tech remaining perfect and winning 45-16. Wisconsin beat ranked Purdue 30-13 finally showing that they can put points on the board. Whether that means the Badgers are offensively better or Purdue is just bad defensively. I guess we will know more next week. Lots of byes this week so we will see how teams come back from their rest.
