College Football Week Two

There's another full slate of college football this weekend and the world is righting itself. We are still in non-conference play this week so there is still a lot of interesting games to be played. Number 15th ranked Texas will play Arkansas in a week 2 matchup that will give a good idea of how the Big 12 is going to play out and if Steve Sarkisian really has worked his offensive miracles in Austin. Arkansas is rebuilding and Texas will have another early test after winning a Top 25 match up in week one against a good ULM team. Longhorn running back, Bijan Robinson, will have another chance to put up big numbers early on in the Heisman race. Oklahoma played a very close game against Tulane so their week two game against Western Carolina will help give a better picture of what the Sooners and Heisman contender Rattler are capable of. Georgia and their defense in particular won a HUGE game in week one over Clemson. The Georgia offense still has some stuff to figure out but their stout defensive will win them most if not all their games this season. Their week two match up against UAB will be no exception. Alabama was Alabama in week one as usual. They handled their business and beat top 15 Miami by 31 points. They play Mercer in week two in a game they could easily win by 50 with Florida on the horizon in week 3. The best game of the weekend will likely be number 3 Ohio State versus number 12 Oregon. Oregon lost their best player, defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, in Week 1 due to an ankle sprain against Fresno State but he is considered day to day heading into this top 15 match up. He is vital in the Ducks pulling off this upset. The only other other top 25 match up is number 9 Iowa State versus number 10 Iowa. Both teams need a non-conference win to help their resumes before heading into conference play if they want to reach their conference championship games. The SEC continues to dominate the top 25 with Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Auburn all playing winnable games in week 2 after winning their week 1 contests. Ole Miss especially winning a big game against Louisville while showing signs of a really good defense even without their head coach. UNC dropped to 24 after dropping their first game of the season against Virginia Tech, who both joined the top 25 and jumped the Tarheels after their 17-10 victory. UNC will likely get back on their feet this week against Georgia State and Virginia Tech has MTSU to beat to keep their early winning streak alive. Week 2 is kicking off and promises to be just as good as Week 1.
