NFL Week 4 Recap

NFL Week 4 included Brady's return to Gillette, Burrow versus Lawrence in a CFB rematch, and more undefeated teams falling. Just another day in paradise. Thursday night game promised fireworks as college talent matched up in the NFL. Burrow won again in this showdown improving the Bengals to 3 and 1 and keeping the Jags winless. Sunday started with Washington versus Atlanta in a battle for who sucks more. The Washington defense continued to degrade right before our eyes but managed to win the game 34-30. Bills won big beating the Texans 40-0. The question is can their defense keep this up? My answer is a no but even if it doesn't, their offense will keep them in most games. The Bears beat the very sad Lions by 10 in a division match up.

The Cowboys continued to impress beating the previously undefeated Carolina Panthers. Cowboy defense continues to shock most with Trevon Diggs leading the charge adding two more interceptions to his impressive 2021 resume. If Diggs hadn't been taken out in the fourth due to lower back tightness, the Cowboys probably would've won by more. But a W is a W and the Cowboys are sitting pretty at 3-1. Wentz led the bad Colts to a win over the bad Dolphins. The Browns beat Minnesota 14-7 in a low scoring game that again made you question if OBJ and Mayfield have any chemistry whatsoever. OBJ was targeted 7 times with 2 receptions for 27 yards. You can blame OBJ or Mayfield, I really dont care which, I hate them both.

One of the most surprising games of the week was the very very bad Giants beating the Saints 27-21. Barkley actually showed up for once. I don't know if the Saints could be any more inconsistent than they've been in the first four weeks. If they are trying to keep people guessing, it is working. My advice? Stay far away from bets involving them cause you're bound to lose one way or another. Another surprise was the Titans losing to the abysmal Jets. Yeah, they lost in overtime to the Jets. Henry is the only thing keeping the Titans relevant at this point. Chiefs beat the Eagles by 12 in what they hope is their bounce back game. Tyreek Hill destroyed the Eagles scoring 3 touchdowns and almost 50 points in fantasy (if you care about that sort of thing, which my husband who drafted him absolutely does).

In the battle of the unbeaten, the Cardinals surprised most and beat the Rams 37-20. Kyler Murray looked great while making sure that people take Arizona seriously as they took sole possession of first place in the AFC West. Seattle won by a touchdown against divisional rivals, San Fran. Ravens took down the other unbeaten team beating Denver 23-7 in Denver. The Packers continued to look strong beating the Steelers 27-17. Steelers fall to 1-3 and most are wondering how long is Pittsburgh gonna ride out this Big Ben train cause everyone watching would rather be hit by a train than endure much more from him.

In one of the most anticipated regular season games of the year, Brady returned to his former stomping grounds to match up against the Patriots. Honestly the game did not go how I expected. I expected Brady to destroy New England and ride off into the sunset. Brady did eventually ride off with a W but it was much closer than expected. Mac Jones looked good spreading the very beaten and weak Bucs secondary. Bucs are almost completely decimated in their secondary so much so that Richard Sherman was signed on Wednesday and played Sunday and they lost another CB in the game, Davis. Brady had a hard time connecting on touchdowns early without his favorite tight end. Belichick lost faith in his new QB late though and sent the field goal unit out for a 56 yarder with less than a minute left. Folk missed and Brady got the victory over his former team. Despite the loss, the Patriots looked way better and will likely only improve as the year goes on and the rookie QB gets more comfortable. (Hopefully they'll wait until Week 7 to have any major improvements, my Cowboys need a win in Gillette). Week 7 ended with Raiders and Chargers. The Raiders late game luck ran out in Los Angeles and they lost 28-14. Herbert had another good game with 3 total touchdowns and showed just how good the Chargers can be (in my opinion making the Cowboy week 2 win that much more impressive but what do I know). Week 4 did not disappoint.
