NFL Week 6 Recap

Week 6 had a few really great games and a couple of really surprising outcomes (the complete collapse of the Chargers for one). Eagles versus Buccaneers kicked off the week with Thursday night football and the Eagles started to mount a comeback but it was too little too late. They also went for 2 to effectively ruin everyone's night who bet Bucs by 7. Another reason to hate the Eagles (if you need one which I don't).

Jaguars got their first win against a bad Miami team. Even with Tua back, the Dolphins are falling apart before our eyes. Packers got a divisional win against the Bears, who are apparently owned by Aaron Rodgers which the stats kind of prove (22-5 against Chicago as the starter, he isn't wrong). Bengals beat the Lions 34-11 as Burrow threw for 3 touchdowns in the rout.

The Colts finally figured out how to finish out a complete game and beat the Texans 31-3. Rams absolutely demolished the Giants 38-11 with Stafford throwing for 4 touchdowns and the defense forcing 4 turnovers (All by Daniel Jones). It's worth noting they did this to a badly depleted Giants offense, without Barkley and Golladay and Toney being out after the first drive. Although honestly, I don't think the Giants would've done much better if they were healthy. They just aren't any good.

The Chiefs took care of business against the Washington Football Team. Mahomes started off shaky throwing two interceptions but eventually stabilized and went on to win the game 31-13. The Vikings pulled off an OT win against the Panthers after finally figuring out how to score in the second half. Cousins scored three touchdowns and Minnesota heads into their bye at 3-3.

The most surprising game of the day was Chargers versus Ravens. Everyone expected this to be a high scoring game with Herbert and Jackson going head to head. The Ravens defense held Herbert to one touchdown and the Chargers lost 34-6. The Cardinals stayed unbeaten against Cleveland winning 37-14. Murray threw for four touchdowns in the win. Browns are falling apart before our very eyes with Hunt and Chubb out and the Broncos up next. The Bronco's are also coming off a loss. Denver lost 34-24 against the Raiders behind Carr's 2 touchdowns.

The most exciting game (yes I am biased but I think most would agree) was the Cowboys versus Patriots game. It was an all out battle for all 4 quarters plus overtime. Dak had one of his best games of the season despite an interception (ball was batted) and a fumble ( he shouldn't have even been sneaking because he scored on the previous play but I digress). Both turnovers were in the end zone. Mac Jones played as well as could be expected. Despite his good game, Diggs still added him to his interception list and extended his streak to 7 with another pick six. The pick six should have been the end of the game, but a miscommunication on defense and a lack of safety help on top led Diggs to let a 75 yard touchdown pass by. Dak drove down the field for 49 yard field goal to send it to overtime. Neither team scored on their first drives in overtime which then set up CeeDee for his second touchdown of the day on a 35 yard pass from Prescott to win the game. It was a close one to take the Cowboys to 5-1 headed into a bye.

Steelers versus Seahawks also took their game to overtime. Watt proved why he got the big bucks forcing a fumble in overtime setting up Pitt for a field goal to win the game 23-20. The Monday night game was another big surprise with the Titans coming out strong and beating the Bills 34-31. I am all for trusting your quarterback and offense but when you have one of the better kickers in the NFL, trust your defense to hold the other team for 20 seconds and kick you a field goal for guaranteed overtime. Derrick Henry proved super human again scoring 3 touchdowns in the win. The Bills trusted their offense more than their defense and it cost them. Titans are finally looking like last year so this game could easily be played again come January. I can't wait!
