Too soon? I don't care. The Dallas Cowboys are a different team than last year. Their defense in particular is night and day. The Cowboy defense leads the NFL in takeaways. The cowboy DEFENSE leads the NFL in something. Is this real life??? Seems like a joke but I am going to ride this high as long as possible. With Dak back, I had no doubt that the Cowboys would be the best team in the dumpster fire that is the NFC East. Now I am vindicated and the Cowboys might be one of the best teams in the NFC. A bold statement but I am going to believe until they beat it out of me.
Dallas's offense roared into their first home game of their season. Dak used CeeDee for a long strike down the field on the first drive to get into the red zone. Then, Zeke finished the drive by getting into the end zone for his first touchdown of the game. Defense got an early stop when Brown intercepted Hurts on the 1 and disaster struck. Dak got sacked and fumbled in the end zone and of course the ball lands in the hands of Fletcher Cox resulting in a Philly TD. That's when the Dallas offense started working. The Cowboys used Zeke to grind to the other end of the field but Philly managed a stop (with help from the refs because that quarterback sneak on 4th and inches was a TD but whatever). Dallas tight end Schultz got his first touchdown of the game on a 19 yard strike from Prescott. Zeke got his second touchdown of the game to go ahead 20-7 when Zuerlein missed the extra point (Not all that important to outcome of game but very annoying) to go into the half.
After half, the Eagles opening drive ended with Diggs getting a pick six. Diggs has started the season with 3 straight interceptions in 3 games. Does Dallas have a lockdown CB??? Am I dreaming?? If I am, don't wake me up. Hurts managed to score in the third but it was quickly answered by Dallas when Dak found Cedric Wilson for a 2 yard TD. Schultz caught one more touchdown from Prescott in the fourth to hammer the nail in the coffin. Hurts managed to score once more to make the score look less embarrassing but the end result was clear. The Cowboys are far and above everyone in the NFC East and the Eagles need a lot more than Hurts to bring them out of what will be a very long season. Eagles will likely lose their third in a row next week versus the Chiefs who need a win after dropping to the bottom of the AFC West for the first time since 2015. Cowboys will need to put together another complete game against the undefeated Panthers on Sunday to stay atop the NFC East.
